Director of Institute of Biochemistry and group leader of Biological Image Analysis and Machine Learning Group at Biological Research Centre, Szeged, Hungary, Senior Researcher at Helmholtz Munich, AI4Health Institute, Germany, CEO of Single-Cell Technologies Ltd. 2017 – 2023 Director, FIMM High-Content Analysis Facility, FIMM-HCA HELMI, 2014 – 2023 Finnish Distinguished Professor Fellowship, FIMM, Helsinki Peter Horvath graduated as a software engineer and received his Ph.D. from INRIA and University of Nice in satellite image analysis. He was a senior scientist at ETH Zurich Light Microscopy Centre (2013-2017) before he returned to Hungary. He is interested in computational cell biology, namely 2/3D biological image segmentation, microscopic image correction, machine learning in high-throughput microscopy and single-cell isolation. He is the co-founder of the European Cell-based Assays Interest Group and the councillor of the Society of Biomolecular Imaging and Informatics.

I earned my Master’s degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Szeged and subsequently completed my Ph.D. at the Doctoral School of Biology, University of Szeged. My research focuses on spatial single-cell multi-omics, with particular interests in high-content imaging, bioimage analysis, single-cell isolation methods, and single-cell multiomics.

Vivien Csapone Miczan, PhD

Medical Biotechnologist

Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Biochemistry at HUN-REN BRC, Szeged, Hungary. She graduated from the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Budapest. She pursued her PhD in molecular neuroscience and super-resolution imaging techniques at the HUN-REN Institute of Experimental Medicine in Budapes. Her research focuses on single cell imaging and image processing to uncover molecular changes in human tumor tissue.

Biologist, PhD student

Research fellow at Synthetic and System Biology Unit, Biological Research Centre, Szeged, Hungary; PhD student at the Doctoral School of Biology, University of Szeged, Szeged, Hungary. Zsanett Zsófia Iván graduated as a cell and molecular biologist. She was a student at Albert Szent-Györgyi Health Center Department of Dermatology and Allergology where she did her bachelor’s degree, and she was a master student at Synthetic and System Biology Unit, Biological Research Centre, Lendület Laboratory of Microscopic Image Analysis and Machine Learning group. Her PhD research focuses on the cell and molecular biology, highlighting the single-cell analysis combined with light microscopy, tissue processing, AI-based image analysis and laser microdissection.

Dominik Hirling

Dominik Hirling

Bioinformatician, PhD student

Doctoral candidate at the BIOMAG group, Biological Research Centre, Szeged. He graduated as a computer scientist specialized in image processing at the University of Szeged. He worked as a web developer during his bachelor studies and contributed to various research projects in the field of medical image processing. His research interests are mathematical modelling of cellular structures and deep learning-based microscopic image processing.
