The Centre

The Single Cell Centre was established within the framework of the Biological Research Centre of Szeged, Hungary in 2022 as a cutting edge research facility to perform spatial single-cell analysis – such as proteomics, transcriptomics or lipidomics – by combining AI and high resolution microscopy based on our CAMI (Computer Aided Microscopy Isolation) technology. Our aim is to perform and assist fundamental research, clinical discoveries and most importantly personalized cancer therapies.

Infrastructure

The centre is equipped with a pathology lab and a wide range of imaging and single cell isolation technologies ranging from confocal, light sheet high-content and digital pathology microscopes, a control software and a high performance AI image analysis system to provide a high throughput automated single cell analysis pipeline from screening to isolation.

Spatial AI

Our laboratory utilize the latest breakthroughs in AI and spatial omics as seen in our landmark project is the Deep Visual Proteomics, a methodology developed together with Matthias Mann’s group. Our strategic partners are the Human Cell Atlas consortium, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the Hungarian NRDIO, the EU Horizon program and companies including Single-Cell Technologies LTD, Leica, Zeiss, 3DHistech and Perkin Elmer.

Tissue processing

SCC is equipped with automated pathology pipeline to process and produce a variety of tissue and cell samples

Microscopy

We provide high-content screening, confocal and 3D light sheet micrscopy and high-throughput digital pathology acquisition.

Single cell isolation

With 4 fully automated single cell isolation microscopes we provide a high variety and throughput with intelligent automation in 24/7.

Image analysis

Our laboratory relies on the Biology Image Analysis Software (BIAS by SCT) for all our automated image analysis needs. If you are interested in finding out more about the capabilities of the software, follow this link to our partner.

Digital pathology

Our Centre facilitates remote access to pathology experts, and through the implementation of state-of-the-art automatic image processing methods, fast and user-friendly access is provided to customizable analysis pathways.

Spatial single cell omics

Combining high-resolution imaging with single-cell molecular analysis enables us to study complex biological processes with unprecedented detail within the context of tissue architecture, exploring cellular interactions in their micro-environment.
